Position Summary: Responsible for repairing vehicles thoroughly, safely, and profitably.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicles for body repair work.
- Notify management of any additional repairs needed.
- Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat operating equipment, and trim to gain access to the damaged area of the vehicle if needed. Store parts on carts or cover to eliminate potential damage.
- Mend damaged body by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensure all gaps and fits are to industry standards; remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills; and bolts or welds replacement parts in position and reassemble after parts are painted.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.).
- File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces with 120-grit paper before turning the vehicle over to the Paint Department.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Ensure all needed repairs identified to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
- Maintain tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Operate tools in a safe manner.
- Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- High School diploma, or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience preferred.
- Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, in some instances, this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
